FAQs

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Information discussed in therapy is confidential and cannot be disclosed without the client’s consent except under very specific conditions. These conditions are commonly referred to as the “limits of confidentiality”. Conditions in which your therapist may be ethically and/or legally required to share your information include:

  • When a client shares information that suggests they may be at risk of causing serious bodily harm to themselves or others
  • When a client reports knowledge of abuse or neglect of a child or elderly person living in a long-term care residence
  • When a client’s information is subpoenaed by the courts
  • If a client reveals that they have been sexually abused by another registered health care practitioner

Of course, clients may provide their informed consent to share their personal health information with other people, such as family members or other healthcare professionals. It is additionally noted that the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario, the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec have the authority to randomly audit client files to ensure their members are maintaining professional standards.

How do I make a first appointment?

You can request a first appointment by clicking here or completing the “book an appointment” section on the home page. Please be sure to include your name, phone number, email and a brief message indicating the reason you are seeking our services at this time as well as the name of your preferred team member (if applicable). We aim to respond to all messages within 24-48 hours. NOTE: It is possible that our response may travel to your spam folder so please be sure to check all email folders. In the event that we are unable to offer services that meet your treatment or assessment needs, we will do our best to connect you with helpful community resources.

Do you offer in person or virtual services?

Our services are currently being offered on a virtual (online) basis to individuals residing anywhere in Ontario and Quebec. The virtual format allows clients to attend sessions from the comfort of their own homes or at times that are most convenient for them.  Current research has demonstrated that electronically delivered therapies are just as effective as in-person treatments for a range of mental health conditions (e.g., Andrews et al., 2018; Luo et al., 2020; Pescatello, Peterson & Baldwin, 2021). All video therapy and assessment services are fully encrypted to ensure your connection is secure and private.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept a number of payment methods including credit card, debit or e-transfer. Please speak to your therapist about the method of payment that works best for you.

What are your service fees?

Psychological services are not covered by OHIP, however services provided by psychologists and social workers are often fully or partially covered by most health insurance plans. It is suggested that you speak with your provider about your coverage details prior to your first visit.

Our therapists offer competitive session rates, in line with guidelines set by the Ontario Psychological Association and other regulatory bodies. Please contact us for more detailed information regarding our treatment and assessment fees.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that life can be unpredictable and you may need to cancel or reschedule an upcoming treatment or assessment session. We kindly request that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice when cancelling or rescheduling sessions as this will allow your therapist to offer the appointment time to another client who may be waiting for an appointment. Cancellations made without 24 hours’ notice and/or not showing up for your appointment will incur a full session fee.
